The polyunsaturated fatty acids omega-6 and omega-3 are important for many different processes in the body. A good balance between omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids in the diet is very important. The ratio should be 2:1, but because dog and cat food often contains a lot of omega-6 and little omega-3 fatty acids, this ratio quickly becomes 11:1. An excess of omega-6 fatty acids promotes inflammation in the body. This can reduce the condition of the skin and coat and cause sensitive skin. It also affects immunity, the nervous system, energy metabolism, and even the musculoskeletal system.



To improve these ratios, a supplement with a higher proportion of omega-3 fatty acids is recommended, such as Omega Oil for dogs & cats. This supplement is specially formulated for a good balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. The omega fatty acids in Omega Oil are present in the ratio 3.4 : 1 : 1.1 (respectively omega 3 : 6 : 9). The percentage of EPA in Omega Oil is 10.6% and DHA 7.3%. Additionally, it is a rich source of energy for the animal.



Omega Oil dog & cat contains a combination of 5 high-quality oils. Fish oil contains 38% of the fish fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). These are two very important omega-3 fatty acids that can be used immediately by the body. These acids are important for proper growth and development. Flaxseed oil is also an important source of omega-3, but in the form of ALA (alpha-linolenic acid). Flaxseed oil consists on average of 70% omega-3 fatty acids and supports digestion and overall health. Rapeseed oil contains the optimal omega-6:3 ratio of 2:1 and also contains omega-9 fatty acids. Hemp seed oil consists of 80% polyunsaturated fatty acids and is rich in omega-3 and -6 fatty acids in the omega-6:3 ratio of 1:2 to 1:3. Additionally, hemp oil is rich in high-quality proteins and essential amino acids. Sesame oil is rich in omega-6 fatty acids (linoleic acid, LA), minerals (calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and sodium), and vitamins (vitamin B1, B2, B3, and B6). Sesame oil is naturally rich in antioxidants and is a very stable oil.
